In 2006, the Municipality of Trent Hills opened Phase 1 of the Campbellford Downtown Waterfront. The project included a riverwalk, lighting, benches, decorative signage and bollards, and docking services for boaters of the Trent Severn Waterway.
The purpose of the project:
- Create a gateway & public access to the downtown waterfront
- Utilize the downtown streetscape design theme
- Engage the community in creating the vision and with the implementation
- Encourage appropriate investment and development
In 2008, Phase 2 of the downtown waterfront development began and construction of this area was completed in 2009. A group of local contractors were engaged to complete the construction of the project. The project has had tremendous partnership support from the following organizations: Campbellford BIA, Trent Hills & District Chamber of Commerce, Campbellford/Seymour Community Foundation, Canada-Ontario Infrastructure Program, Rotary Club of Campbellford, Ontario Rural Economic Development Program, Northumberland Community Futures Corporation, Hydro One, and Trent Severn Waterway
