October 2024 proclaimed as National Disability Employment Awareness Month

The Municipality of Trent Hills proclaims October 2024 as
National Disability Employment Awareness Month

National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) is an annual October campaign promoting disability inclusion in businesses, workplaces and communities including Trent Hills.

Light It Up! for NDEAMTM is a national, one-night coordinated special lighting event in recognition of National Disability Employment Awareness Month; and the many ways people with disabilities contribute to businesses and communities across Canada, including Trent Hills. This is a big year for Light It Up! For NDEAM. It’s the fifth anniversary. Light It Up! For NDEAM is more than a night; more than an event. It’s a movement that sparks continuing conversation about disability inclusion in employment, in business and in our communities, including in Trent Hills. There’s no other event quite like this one, during National Disability Employment Awareness Month.

Land Acknowledgement

We recognize the traditional keepers of this land and, specifically our neighbours of the Alderville First Nation, with a formal territorial acknowledgement.

Welcome to the Gunshot Treaty Lands of 1788. It is on these lands and on the shores of the big lake, the Mississauga Anishinabeg met with the Crown to facilitate the opening of these lands for
settlement.

Let us be reminded of the responsibility we all have in making sure that we respect these lands and waters that give us life and sustain our livelihoods.
