October 25, 2024 proclaimed as Dress Purple Day

The Municipality of Trent Hills proclaims October 25, 2024 as
Dress Purple Day

Dress Purple Day is the last Friday of October each year. The Dress Purple Campaign runs
across the province to raise awareness about the important role that individuals and communities
play in supporting vulnerable children, youth, and families. Child safety and well-being is a shared
community responsibility that every child and youth in Ontario has a right to. This right extends to
home, at school and in the community and includes the right to culture, race, ability, sexual
orientation, gender identity, and gender expression.

Land Acknowledgement

We recognize the traditional keepers of this land and, specifically our neighbours of the Alderville First Nation, with a formal territorial acknowledgement.

Welcome to the Gunshot Treaty Lands of 1788. It is on these lands and on the shores of the big lake, the Mississauga Anishinabeg met with the Crown to facilitate the opening of these lands for
settlement.

Let us be reminded of the responsibility we all have in making sure that we respect these lands and waters that give us life and sustain our livelihoods.
