Event Hosting
Trent Hills is well known for hosting festivals and special events that welcome both local residents and visitors to celebrate our community heritage and assets.
Special events add to the rich character of our community.
Pursuant to Special Event Permit By-law 2024-063, a Special Event means a cultural, recreational, educational or similar event of a short-term nature that has either:
- Free admission and is held on Municipal Property, and requires municipal resources or road closures; or
- Paid admission and is held Outdoors on Private Property or Municipal Property
If you are considering hosting a special event in Trent Hills that will need a temporary road use/closure, use of municipal resources, and/or require in-kind support from the municipality review the Special Events Application and plan to submit your application at least 90 days in advance of your free admission event and 120 for paid admission events.
Contact the AGCO for more information about obtaining a liquor license in a public place.
If your event is serving food, organizers and their vendors must also complete HKPR District Health Unit Special Event Permit forms at least 14 days prior to the event date. More information and a link to the forms can be found by visiting Special Events Permit | HKPR District Health Unit
As a reminder, we require all our hosts to purchase event insurance to keep them protected during their time hosting a group in one of our facilities.
We’ve selected Duuo as our event insurance partner, which gives our event hosts access to a discounted rate on coverage.

Land Acknowledgement
We recognize the traditional keepers of this land and, specifically our neighbours of the Alderville First Nation, with a formal territorial acknowledgement.
Welcome to the Gunshot Treaty Lands of 1788. It is on these lands and on the shores of the big lake, the Mississauga Anishinabeg met with the Crown to facilitate the opening of these lands for
settlement.
Let us be reminded of the responsibility we all have in making sure that we respect these lands and waters that give us life and sustain our livelihoods.
