Postal Interruption Notice

Due to the Canada Post labour disruption, the Municipality of Trent Hills will not be sending any mail, including notices and bills, and may also be unable to accept incoming mail. Residents and service partners who have recently received an invoice are still required to pay their bills on time, despite the disruption.

Residents are urged to visit or reach out to the Municipal Office to make payments or arrange payment plans.

This notice will be revised if there are any changes to the situation.

Municipal Significance Designation

Event of Municipal Significance Designation Requests:

Requests for an event of municipal significance designation are made in order to obtain eligibility for a Public Event Special Occasion Permit from AGCO that would allow for the sale of alcohol at an event and allow the organizer to:

  • Profit from the sale of alcohol, and

  • Advertise the event publicly

Does the Event Require a Municipal Significance Designation:

Events conducted by:

  • a charitable organization registered under the Income Tax Act (Canada), or

  • a non-profit association or organization for the advancement of charitable, educational, religious or community objects

Typically do not require an event of municipal significance designation to obtain a Public Event Special Occasion Permit from AGCO.

If your organization is described above, contact AGCO to determine if you require an event of municipal significance designation, to obtain a Public Event Special Occasion Permit from AGCO.

If AGCO has advised that you require an event of municipal significance designation in order to be eligible to obtain a Public Event Special Occasion Permit complete the Event of Municipal Significance Designation for AGCO Public Event Special Occasion Permit form, along with the $100.00 application fee.

Complete applications, including application fee, must be received a minimum of 60 days prior to the event.

The following will be considered when an event of municipal significance desigation is requested:

  1. The event is being held in Trent Hills and is open to the general public.
  2. The event will host no less than 100 members of the general public.
  3. The event can be defined as:
    1. Having local, regional, national or international historical or cultural significance; or
    2. Building awareness of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; or
    3. Benefitting the community at-large.

An event must meet the criteria in #1 and #2, as well as at least one of the criteria in #3.
