Pickleball

Frequently Asked Questions

Recreational Pickleball is geared towards people looking to learn the game and/or those wanting to play at a more leisurely pace.

Competitive Pickleball is for those who have a strong understanding of the rules and are looking for a fun and upbeat pace.

Players of all levels are welcome to join both Competitive and Recreational Drop in Pickleball. Discrimination, disrespect, or inappropriate language and behavior will not be tolerated.

Both Competitive and Recreational Drop In programs are casual play, and will not be monitored, refereed, or evaluated by Field House staff. Drop in participants are responsible to self-govern rules, and to ensure everybody is included and receives fair court time.

No. It is strongly recommended that you book online to secure your spot, though we will still be accepting walk-ins up to 24 people. Booking online in advance will guarantee that there is court time for you, and you aren’t disappointed when you show up and the session is full.

There is a detailed video tutorial with instructions for our simple online booking process, see the image above.

Once you are registered into your sessions you will be able to look at your calendar to see all sessions you are registered for, and you’ll be able to withdraw from any dates you aren’t able to attend.

Pickleball is growing exponentially every year. Through years of experience and feedback we have found that in order to keep the atmosphere fun and inviting, there needs to be a balance of rest and playing time. Our 4 courts can hold up to 16 players at once. Capping our registration at 24 players will allow 4 courts to be filled, and only two courts (8 people max) to be sitting at any given time. This will ensure players get plenty of playing time and don’t spend too much time on the sidelines each time they come out.

We have added 2 additional Pickleball drop in times for the year, bringing us to 4 weekly Recreational Drop in, and 5 Competitive drop in times. This will create more playing opportunities than ever before. We also recommend online booking to ensure you secure your time.

Though a membership isn’t necessary to play; it will save you money and ease the process of registering online, or checking in in person. Members can register online or sign in at the front desk for free, whereas non-members must pay each time they register online or in person.

Drop in is $5 for each 2 hour session. If you play 3 times per week your membership will more than pay for itself after 3 weeks.

We have found that during the hot summer months our attendance numbers drop substantially as people enjoy the beautiful summer weather. This means we decrease our hours to 3 days per week during business hours only. Unfortunately that means that some of those people who have purchased year-long memberships aren’t able to use the Field House within those hours. To avoid charging people for a service they aren’t able to utilize, we have discontinued our year round membership. We still offer monthly membership options during those summer months for those wishing to stay indoors.

We have added 2 additional Pickleball sessions this coming year to help accommodate this growing sport, though we still find that certain sessions are more popular than others, and over-crowding can still be an issue.

Additionally, it is important that there are still opportunities for birthday parties, tennis, basketball and public drop in to share this community space as well.

Residents of Trent Hills (Campbellford, Hastings and Warkworth) may book online in 15 days in advance, and non-residents may book online 14 days in advance.

Bookings are released based on the time of day.

Example: If you are planning to register for 9:00 am Pickleball, you must wait until 9:00 am the appropriate number of days in advance (15 for residents, 14 for non-residents) before the booking is released.

*If you do not have access to the internet you may book over the phone with the front desk at 705-696-2252 up to one week in advance.

If you register in advance but aren’t able to make it, you can cancel up to 3 days before the event at no charge.

If you cancel less than 3 days in advance or don’t show up to a session you have registered for you will be charged a $5 cancellation fee.

You can cancel online by logging into your account, navigating to your calendar, and then clicking ‘withdraw’ on the event you wish to cancel.

Land Acknowledgement

We recognize the traditional keepers of this land and, specifically our neighbours of the Alderville First Nation, with a formal territorial acknowledgement.

Welcome to the Gunshot Treaty Lands of 1788. It is on these lands and on the shores of the big lake, the Mississauga Anishinabeg met with the Crown to facilitate the opening of these lands for
settlement.

Let us be reminded of the responsibility we all have in making sure that we respect these lands and waters that give us life and sustain our livelihoods.
