Notice of Public Meeting - February 4th, 2025
In accordance with the requirements of the Planning Act, A Public Meeting must be held for each complete Planning Application in order for Council Members to formally hear and receive public and agency comments. The intent of this statutory Public Meeting is to receive public feedback and incorporate it into a recommendation report from Planning Staff. There will be no decision made during the Public Meeting to be held on February 4th, 2025, at 6 p.m.
All applications presented at this Public Meeting have been deemed complete by the Municipality's Planning Department.
Zoning By-Law Amendment
In accordance with the Planning Act, notice of a complete Zoning By-Law Amendment must be given at least twenty (20) days before the scheduled Public Meeting.
- Zoning of By-Law Amendment Application - C01/2025 (John & Rosalind Watkins)
The purpose and effect of the proposed Zoning By-law Amendment is to recognize the existing use of the subject property, being approximately 2.43 acres, containing an existing residential dwelling and outbuildings.
The current zoning of the subject property is the Highway Commercial (C2) Zone due to a past commercial use. The proposed zoning for the subject lands is the Rural Residential (RR) Zone. The property is no longer used on a Commercial basis.
- Notice Of Zoning By Law Amendment C02/2025 - Municipality of Trent Hills
The purpose of the municipally initiated amendments is to update the Municipality’s Comprehensive Zoning By-law 2010-105 to include updates to definitions, rename residential zones, change the requirements for parking provisions, provisions for entrance and driveway requirements, and changes provisions for duplex and townhouse units. A full list of changes can be found on the municipal website.
A first round of discussion on parking requirements will also be held during the Public Meeting, to be incorporated into a later Zoning By-law. There has been increased discussion in the reduction or removal of parking spaces within the downtown areas. The municipality is investigating the possibility of introducing paid parking that could be rented out by residential uses in the downtown to meet the requirements of off-street parking and for businesses to rent out as additional space.

Land Acknowledgement
We recognize the traditional keepers of this land and, specifically our neighbours of the Alderville First Nation, with a formal territorial acknowledgement.
Welcome to the Gunshot Treaty Lands of 1788. It is on these lands and on the shores of the big lake, the Mississauga Anishinabeg met with the Crown to facilitate the opening of these lands for
settlement.
Let us be reminded of the responsibility we all have in making sure that we respect these lands and waters that give us life and sustain our livelihoods.
